London Life Insurance Company is a life insurance company founded in 1874 by the patriarch of the Ivey family, in London, Ontario. London Life has Group (benefits, pensions) and Individual Life (insurance and pensions) and Investments divisions. Best known for its "Freedom 55" slogan, evocative of saving money to an extent that would allow one to retire at age 55, the company reportedly had assets under management of $40 billion (Canadian funds) as at December 31, 2004, and 1.9 million participating life insurance policies. London Life is now a subsidiary of the Great-West Life Assurance Company. Project Summary Conducted a formal Impact Analysis for the implementation of the major new system to validate the Business Case. The report assessed and defined implications to service levels, staffing levels, equipment requirements, training and facilities. Background The Group division was using a system over 20 years old, having been written in the timeframe of far less capable technology. There was a Business Case for developing a new system to reduce costs, improve service, and enable new capabilities to open new market opportunities. Requirement Provide an objective assessment of the requirements, proposed solution and plan. Project After Discovery The NegenIT consultant became interim Systems Development Manager for the Product Marketing functions for a new major group insurance administration system. Approach - Defined system requirements for Marketing, Product Development and Pricing.
