The Canadian Cancer Society is a national community-based organization of volunteers whose mission is the eradication of cancer and the enhancement of the quality of life of people living with cancer. CCS organizes fundraising events and programs to fund research and finance assistance programs. The Canadian Cancer Society organizes many local, provincial and national fundraising events and uses the receipts to fund 5 areas: Research, Advocacy, Prevention, Information and Support. Project Summary Led workshops to define strategic fundraising initiatives across the CCS organization. Requirement Facilitated a process to organize provincial CCS departments to develop a provincial fundraising strategy to be used as a model for a national strategy. Approach - Background activity had already been performed to identify programs at the grass roots. There was needed a process and structure for bringing these initiatives into a single national framework and plan.
- Background documentation was reviewed to understand the organization and history and the organization’s goals and strategic planning activities to-date.
- Leading an executive workshop, the team was led through a process of discussion, assessment and prioritization.
- Workshop notes were documented and provided as a record of the proceedings.
